Three things God asks of us.
Hungry Hearts international seeks to do these 3 things well and so we have incorporated them into our ministry. The violence, bloodshed and extreme evil in Syria will not end simply by us helping the refugees. The refugees will not find the healing they need just by getting their physical needs met. (This is vital but they also need to experience the love and tender care of God). Evil being stopped and lives being restored are the work of God. He calls us to join him through fasting, prayer and giving.
Option (1): Decide to fast one day or one meal a week for 2014 and during that day or meal pray through the Syria prayer guide and give the money that would have been spent on that meal or meals help refugees. (you can join in on this at any time – even in the middle of the year).
Option (2): Fast for 40 days from something that you enjoy (movies or coffee for example) and pray through the daily prayer guide for Syria (click on the link below) and then give the money that you would have spent on that item give to help refugees.
Option (3): Ask God how he would like you to fast, pray and give. Then do it!
And the word of the Lord came to me: 24 “Son of man, say to her, You are a land that is not cleansed or rained upon in the day of indignation. 25 The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured human lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst. 26 Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, shedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain. 28 And her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. 29 The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and have extorted from the sojourner without justice. 30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. 31 Therefore I have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned their way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.”
Who will stand in the gap for this nation? Who will fast, pray and give to finally see transformation in the Middle East?
